KAI Still Focuses On Evacuating One Train Accident Victim In Cicalengka

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Didiek Hartantyo inspected the location of the Turangga-Commuter Line Bandung Raya train collision in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, on Friday, January 5.

The President Director of KAI said that there was still one KAI officer trapped in the Bandung Raya Commuter Line train carriage.

"We convey that three victims (died) have been evacuated, now there are still one (1) victims on the Bandung Raya train. Hopefully, this can be resolved soon," said Didiek in an official statement via one of the television stations, Friday, January 5.

Didiek added that his party will focus on normalizing the accident area by lifting the trains that have fallen as a result of the accident.

"We are now lifting trains, both from the Turangga train and the Greater Bandung Commuter Line. We convey, yes, this will take time because quite a lot of trains have fallen. However, we will try to finish it as soon as possible by bringing in transportation equipment (crane), both from Bandung, Solo and Cirebon," he said.

He also apologized for the accident that caused the death toll.

"We are together with the Director General (DJKA Kemenhub) and later the Chairman of the NTSC will conduct an investigation regarding the cause of this accident," he added.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Risal Wasal said that his party would try to immediately normalize train travel.

"Today, we are still focused on evacuating (victims) and it is possible to normalize this trip. And of course, currently, friends from PT KAI are still carrying out their services to the community for train trips by changing service patterns through Kroya," he said.

"Then, we ask for prayers so that this evacuation will be completed soon and friends in the hospital will recover quickly, we will finish the condolences for immediate burial," he added.
