The Directorate General Of PKTN Asked The ADM To Clarify The Alleged Safety Test Scandal

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) through the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Ditjen PKTN) has asked PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) to clarify. This is related to the widespread news of the alleged Daihatsu vehicle safety test scandal.

PKTN Director General Moga Simatupang also asked PT ADM to pay more attention to motorized vehicles produced and marketed in Indonesia so that they are safe for Indonesian consumers to use.

"The Ministry of Trade has asked for clarification from PT ADM regarding the widespread news of the alleged Daihatsu vehicle safety test scandal," Moga said quoting Antara.

Moga conveyed that this request was an effort by the government to ensure consumer protection. The Ministry of Trade will continue to provide guidance to business actors about the importance of security and safety of traded products.

The Directorate General of PKTN has the authority to ensure the fulfillment of the obligations of business actors to consumer safety for goods traded in Indonesia. In this case, motorized vehicles marketed by PT ADM are closely related to consumer safety, security, and safety.

"While waiting for the results of the sampling test that will be carried out by the Ministry of Transportation, consumers are expected to remain calm and use their vehicles as usual. The Ministry of Trade and other stakeholders will continue to strive to enforce consumer protection," said Moga.

Meanwhile, Executive Officer, Corporate Function Directorate of PT ADM Johan ensured that all Daihatsu vehicles produced, distributed, and marketed in Indonesia do not have quality and safety problems and comply with applicable regulations in Indonesia.

In addition, domestic shipments have been carried out starting December 22, 2023. Then, PT ADM has also returned to normal shipping starting December 26, 2023 to more than 60 export destination countries that have confirmed because it has been approved by the authority of the export destination country.

"The Daihatsu products in Indonesia have met the technical requirements for safety and security in accordance with the provisions standards in Indonesia. In addition, the products that are rumored to be certainly not traded in Indonesia," said Johan.

Furthermore, Johan said, Daihatsu products in Indonesia are not related to what happened in Japan. Daihatsu products in Indonesia have been tested by related parties to ensure the vehicle is completely safe.
