JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) visited the MSBKH-01 exploration well operated by the KKKS PT Imbang Tata Alam.

This activity is carried out to check the readiness of MSBKH-01 wells which are targeted to be able to tax by the end of 2023, as well as in order to pursue the target of drilling exploration wells in 2023.

The MSBKH-01 well is located in BKH Field, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau. The status at the location is currently being riged up. The drilling of the well will be vertically drilled using Rig BMA#09 (750 HP) with the planned final depth of the well at 7,000 ft TVD.

"Through the drilling of the MSBKH-01 exploration well, it is hoped that new oil reserves will be found in the BKH structure," said Head of the SKK Migas Drilling and Well Division, Surya Widyantoro, quoted on Saturday, December 23.

Surya said that the target for drilling exploration wells will penetrate the Minas, Farmers, Telisa, Sihapas, and Basement Formation.

"This exploration thickening is intended to test and evaluate the potential content of oil and gas contained in the Lower Sihapas Formation," Surya continued.

The MSBKH-01 exploration well drilling program is planned to be carried out on December 27, 2023 and is expected to be implemented within 68 days. Surya added that SKK Migas continues to encourage the implementation of the exploration well drilling program to pursue the 2023 target.

He said that until November 2023, the exploration well drilling achievement had reached 31 wells, with the outlook for the achievement of drilling exploration wells until December 2023 estimated to reach 41 wells.

"The achievement of drilling exploration wells until November 2023 has exceeded the achievement in 2022 of 30 exploration wells. We continue to optimize the remaining time in December 2023, so that the target of 41 exploration wells can be realized," added Surya.

Head of the SKK Migas Program and Communication Division, Hudi D. Suryodipuro, said that 2023 has been designated as a year with massive exploration. The realization of exploration well drilling until November 2023 which has surpassed the achievements of 2022 shows that massive exploration in 2023 has gone as expected.

Hudi added that not only from the aspect of achieving the number of drilling exploration wells in 2023, there were also 2 (two) findings of giant disclosures, namely in the North Gang operated by KKKS ENI and South Andaman operated by KKKS Mubadala Energy.

"We are grateful that aggressiveness in drilling linear exploration with the findings produced, including 2 (two) giant disclosures which are expected to encourage investors' interest in working on the potential of upstream oil and gas in Indonesia which is still promising," explained Hudi.
