Realize National Health Independence, Minister Of Health Inaugurates Health Equipment Industry Facilities Dexa Group

JAKARTA - To encourage the independence of the National pharmaceutical and medical device industry, Dexa Group built its first medical device industry facility through PT Deca Metric Medica. With the construction of this industrial facility, Indonesia is able to provide facilities for sanitary napkins or sound dressing whose needs are in the 5th most medical devices are transacted in the e-catalog of the Government Goods/service Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP).

The medical device industry facility PT Deca Metric Medica was inaugurated by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who was accompanied by the Head of Dexa Group Ferry A. Soetikno, and the President Director of PT Medela Potentia Krestijanto Pandji. Also attended were the Director General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Rizka Andalucia, as well as the board of directors and commissioners of Dexa Group and Medela Potentia Group, on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in the Jababeka Industrial Estate, Cikarang, West Java.

The Minister of Health appreciated the inauguration of the PT Deca Metric Medica medical device production facility which can support national health resilience. According to the Minister of Health, there are 10 most used medical devices in Indonesia based on e-catalog data in 900 government hospitals. The five of them are syringes, infusion sets, gloves, Iv Chateter, and cassava or sanitary napkins. The Minister of Health appreciated PT Deca Metric Medica for producing wound sanitary napkins.

He then said that the sound dressing sales volume in Indonesia could reach Rp300 billion per year. In addition, this medical device is also used goods that are continuously used in health facilities.

"I am sure that the sound dressing (repair) is used worldwide, we will open it to UNICEF," said the Minister of Health.

The Minister of Health supports domestic medical devices in addition to meeting national needs, but can also be exported to foreign countries. The government will facilitate domestic production to be absorbed in the global market.

"So that more quality domestic production with good operations, so that if there is another pandemic we are ready. We help them enter the international level so that they can have complete celling power, economic scale," said the Minister of Health.

PT Deca Metric Medica, which stands on a land of 6,000 square meters and a building covering an area of 4,800 square meters, is expected to contribute to reducing imported products of Indonesian medical devices. According to a report on the performance of the first semester of 2023, the Directorate General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, transactions of National medical devices through e-catalog in 2019-2020 were still dominated by imported products which reached 88 percent.

According to data from the Indonesian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association (ASPAKI) of the Indonesian medical device market in 2020, it is IDR 49.7 trillion, equivalent to 0.7 percent of the global medical device market. However, the trade balance for domestic medical devices is still experiencing a deficit of IDR 23.8 trillion with an export value of IDR 16.3 trillion and imports of IDR 40.1 trillion.

"Dexa Group is building the health equipment industry facility PT Deca Metric Medica as a concrete step of our support for the government's vision of achieving national health independence. We are committed to supporting the transformation of the health resilience system by making a maximum contribution to the provision of quality medical devices for the community," said Ferry Soetikno.

The PT Deca Metric Medica medical device industry facility, which was built in 2020 and started production in January 2023, has received certification on Good Medical Device Making Methods (CPAKB) from the Ministry of Health and its products have been included in the Ministry of Health's sectoral e-catalog. PT Deca Metric Medica focuses on producing medical devices for sanitary napkins which are one of the most needed medical devices in Indonesia.

The Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) noted that sanitary napkins or sound dressings were in fifth place in most medical device products purchased in Indonesia in 2022 after injection devices, infusion sets, surgical gloves, and catheters.

PT Deca Metric Medica has now produced a number of medical devices such as Stardec Decayix which functions as additional fixations after primary wound cover, wide wound fixation in the joints, and stabbing fixation. PT Deca Metric Medica also produces Stardec Decamed which functions as a wound cover equipped with an absorbent pad and postoperative wound cover.

Deca Metric Medica's next production is Stardec DecaPore which is a Paper Tape with Dispenser product that functions for lightweight tub fission and as a cluster of wound covers. Another production is Stardec DecaCare which is an antiseptic surgical scrub product.

PT Deca Metric Medica also produces scar protective plaster with latex free material and is safe for sensitive skin, namely plaster for children, Stardec Delast Character Zoo Party and anti-water plester, Stardec Decaplast Waterproof. In addition to producing for Dexa Group, PT Deca Metric Medica provides tolmanufaktur services to national and international partners.

The medical device industry facility PT Deca Metric Medica was built with a modular concept, which can be expanded according to production needs. Various quality products produced at the PT Deca Metric Medica medical device industry facility were marketed by PT Djembatan Dua and distributed by PT Anugrah Argon Medica, two subsidiaries of Medela Potentia Group.
