JAKARTA - A subsidiary of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), PT Satria Bahana Sarana (SBS) has strategic steps to deal with coal price fluctuations in 2024.

Just so you know, coal prices fluctuate significantly throughout 2023. The Indonesian Reference Coal Price (HBA) in January 2023 touched the figure of 305.21 US dollars per ton, but in October 2023 it fell far below 123.96 US dollars per ton.

PT SBS Corporate Secretary Yudhi Wibowo said faced with complex challenges to maintain operational sustainability, companies engaged in Mining Services carried out efficiency and optimization throughout 2023.

According to him, the steps taken by PT SBS are the main key for companies to survive and produce sustainable profits amid coal price instability.

"Strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing the company's spending in all operational aspects. This effort helps companies reduce production costs, increase profit margins and ensure sustainable operational continuity," Yudhi said in a statement to the media, Wednesday, December 20.

During the operation of PT SBS from January to September 2023, he said, the company succeeded in efficiency and optimization of Rp52.5 billion from the efficiency plan of Rp5.2 billion or exceeding the 716 percent target.

One of the steps taken is to carry out the Agile Way of Working Program, which consists of the field of human resources, the use of fuel, the creation of mechanical pit stops and the efficiency of rental costs.

In addition, the company also prioritizes efficiency in all operational aspects. Only by taking these steps, PT SBS remains sustainable and produces sustainable profits amid volatile market challenges.

"Through this efficiency effort, it is hoped that a significant reduction in costs will be achieved, increase competitiveness and ensure the continuity of the company in the long term," concluded Yudhi.
