JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) has asked all public infrastructure managers to provide promotional places for MSME actors.
Deputy for Small and Medium Enterprises at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs Hanung Harimba Rachman said that currently his party is trying to strengthen a conducive business ecosystem so that cooperatives and MSMEs can be competitive, one of which is by providing promotional places for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSMEs).
"The Coordinating Ministry for SMEs will continue to urge public infrastructure managers to show their partisanship in developing MSMEs through the provision of promotional places and the imposition of special rental rates for MSMEs," said Hanung in an official statement received by VOI, Monday, December 18.
Hanung said this was also a follow-up to the mandate of Government Regulation (PP) Number 7 of 2021 Article 60 which emphasized that ministries/agencies and local governments, BUMN, BUMD and/or Private Business Entities are required to provide a place for the promotion and development of MSMEs.
He assessed that there is at least 30 percent of the total area of commercial land used for strategic promotional sites in public infrastructure.
"The government will also initiate an incentive plan that can be given to public infrastructure managers who have carried out all the mandates in PP Number 7 of 2021," he said.
Furthermore, Hanung said, his party had carried out monitoring in the implementation of the policy.
However, there are still several public infrastructure places that have not allocated 30 percent of promotional sites and are still applying rental fees above 30 percent for MSMEs, and there are no cooperatives as managers or forums for MSMEs.
"In addition, there are still many challenges faced by MSMEs in public infrastructure, such as products that are sold less varied, the optimal synergy between managers and local governments, especially related to curation of regional superior products, to the imposition of industrial electricity tariffs on MSME tenants," he said.

To overcome these various obstacles, said Hanung, the Kemenkop UKM is conducting pilot projects at six public infrastructure locations, such as Leuwipanjang Bandung Terminal, YIA DI Yogyakarta Airport, Merak Banten Port, Bakaheuni Lampung Port, Rest Area KM 260B Banjaratma Brebes, and Banyuangga Probolinggo Terminal.
"I hope that the management of public infrastructure in these 6 locations can be committed to continuing to support the empowerment of MSMEs through the provision of promotional and business assistance places for MSMEs, in order to expand access to marketing of MSME products, and improve the economy of local communities," he added.
