Securing Electricity Supply During Nataru, Director General Of Gatrik Says There Is A Decrease In Peak Burden

The Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ensures that electricity supply during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year celebrations is safe.

"There is a decrease in the peak electricity load during Christmas and New Year's compared to normal peak load," said Secretary of the Directorate General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Ida Nuryatin Finahari, at a press conference on the Opening of the National Command Post for the ESDM Sector for the Nataru Period 2023/2024, Friday, December 15.

To ensure the safety of electricity supply, said Ida, PLN has prepared 1853 electricity standby posts.

Not only that, but the state-owned stun company has also provided electricity supply security with a special back-up for 2378 churches, 340 airports, 629 train stations, 247 terminals, 2439 ports, religious activities field and designated ceremony venues.

"Efforts to maintain reliability by ensuring the adequacy of primary energy sources and the readiness of power plants and supporting infrastructure," he said.

On a separate occasion, PLN implemented a Nataru standby period from December 18, 2023 to January 7, 2024.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that during the standby period, PLN had 80,233 personnel on 2.571 posts spread throughout Indonesia.

PLN also alerted 130 PDKB teams (In Voluntary Work) with 1,040 personnel spread across each post.

Darmawan ensured that the electricity system was in excellent condition to welcome Nataru.

Previously, preventive efforts had also been made from upstream to downstream, starting from the readiness of primary energy for generators, reliability of power plants to transmission and distribution networks so that electricity supply continues to be reliable.

"In ensuring that the primary energy condition, power generation, transmission and distribution are safe, we have carried out various assessments, inspections, monitoring to simulations to ensure the readiness of electricity reliability from upstream to downstream," said Darmawan.

Darmawan added that PLN had coordinated and collaborated with stakeholders to secure electricity supply at priority points during Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"We will prioritize electricity security in places of worship and other priority locations such as transportation centers, health centers, and crowd centers with guaranteed reliability," said Darmawan.
