JAKARTA - The Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) admits that the distribution of subsidized diesel has excess quotas by the end of 2023.
Despite experiencing a slight increase in consumption, the government has assigned Pertamina as a fuel oil distribution business (BBM) to meet the needs of the community.
"Yes, there is a slight increase, but the term is controlled very strongly. Not extreme, the important thing is that in the next month all the needs of the community are met," said BPH Migas member Saleh Abdurrahman when met at the BPH Migas Building, Friday, December 15.
Saleh was also reluctant to specify the amount of additional subsidized diesel quota provided by the government to meet the needs of the community at the end of the year.
"The important thing is that the government's message is that all needs are met. That's all. Yes, but we still control it. Maybe what we see now is safe or not. Or there is a minister's direction, our government's direction must be taken care of," continued Saleh.
Saleh added, BPH Migas has also set limits to Pertamina in accordance with the latest prognosis and situations, projections and so on.
He ensured that the allowed amount did not exceed 1.3 million kiloliters (KL) as proposed by Pertamina in front of Commission VII of the DPR.
"We have given the limit to Pertamina. Not (up to 13 million KL)," said Saleh.
