Berau Coal Supports The Implementation Of The Salur Extortion Scheme Which Will Be Implemented Next Year

JAKARTA - PT Berau Coal admitted to supporting the steps taken by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the formation of a Management Agency Partner (MIP). It is known that the MIP has entered the finalization stage of the draft presidential regulation (Perpres) and will certainly take effect in early 2024.

Corporate Communication Superintendent of PT Berau Coal Rudini Rahim said PT Berau Coal as part of the Coal Mining Association supports the policy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the establishment of the MIP.

"The policy of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources regarding Management Agency Partners (MIP) will later apply to all coal business actors and PT Berau Coal as part of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI) will certainly support the government's policy," he said when met at Block 8 PIT PAMA, Berau Coal, Thursday, December 7.

He believes that the mechanism related to the MIP to be issued certainly has a good formulation and is in accordance with the purpose of establishing the MIP, especially to secure domestic coal supply.

"We believe that the MIP mechanism has a good formulation in accordance with the goals of forming the MIP, especially securing the supply of coal to domestic to meet domestic electricity," continued Rudini.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif revealed that the progress of the formation of a Management Agency Partner (MIP) for coal compensation funds had entered the stage of finalizing the draft presidential regulation (Perpres).

"We have conveyed that the formation of a Management Agency Partner (MIP) for coal compensation funds (DKB) is currently in the finalization stage," said Arifin in a Working Meeting with Commission VII DPR RI, Tuesday, November 21.

He admitted that together with the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, he had signed a signature and there was still the latest input from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves).

Arifin hopes that the derivative regulations and support for ministries and institutions can be completed, MIP trials and socialization to business actors can be carried out from December 2023 to January 1, 2024, and can be operationalized.
