JAKARTA - The implementation of the contactless non-cash toll transaction system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) is considered capable of minimizing the number of Over Dimension Over Load (ODOL) trucks that cross toll roads.

Vice President of Intelligent Transportation System Association of Indonesia Resdiansyah said, if the MLFF system is added with technology, it can later detect the ODOL truck.

"Of course (minimizing), because if that is added technology for scanners, automatically (ODOL trucks will be detected)," said Resdiansyah at the Sequis Center Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

Even so, Resdiansyah gave a message that regulations regarding ODOL must be strengthened first. Because, in the end, MLFF is just a device, and the most important thing is the regulation.

"Our problems in the regulations must first strengthen ODOL regulations. Technology is just a tool, the important thing is to improve the toll system in Indonesia," he added.

Previously reported, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) confirmed that the trial of the contactless toll transaction system or Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) in Bali will be carried out in the second week of December 2023.

"Yes, (MLFF trial) is around the second week of December," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono after being met at the Hunindotech 4.0 event at The Westin Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 14.

The MLFF is the latest technology in the world that processes payments automatically for vehicles passing on toll roads.

Through this technology, toll road users can enter and leave without having to stop to pay.

This is possible because MLFF uses System Satellite Global Navigation (GNSS) technology, which is a system that allows transactions through applications on smartphones and reads via satellite, so that readers' tools on every place on toll roads such as RFID-based technology provide more effective cost solutions.
