Pursuing Digital Economic Potential Of 130 Billion US Dollars, Companies And Agencies Need To Strengthen Cyber Security In Business And Service Development

The 2023 TOP DIGITAL Awards ceremony was held again by It Work Magazine, which is a medium under the MSI Group in collaboration with several professional institutions such as APTIKOM (Informatics and Computer Higher Education Association), MASTEL (Indonesian Telematics Society), APKOMINDO (Indonesian Computer Entrepreneurs Association), ASPILUKI (Indonesian Lunar Assistance Association), IDTUG (Indonesia Telecommunication User Group), and LKN (Nawacita Study Institute).

This award ceremony was held at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, December 4 with the main theme "IT Governance and Cyber Security in Innovation of Business and Services". This big event presents the keynote speech of the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) RI Budi Arie Setiadi represented by the Expert Staff of the Minister for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs, R Wijaya Kusumawardhana.

In the Minister of Communication and Information's remarks read by R Wijaya Kusumawardhana, the government welcomed and appreciated the 2023 TOP Digital Awards. This activity, he continued, was in line with the government's efforts to accelerate digital transformation in the country, both among business actors, institutions or government institutions as readiness to enter the era of the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0).

It was revealed that the Ministry of Communication and Information will also continue to boost telecommunication network services to support the expansion of digitalization, including supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in areas that have not been reached by the internet so that they can enter the digital ecosystem, as well as support the development of the digital economy.

The digital economy is one of the great determinations in the strategy to achieve digital transformation, considering the great potential in supporting the achievement of the Vision of Indonesia 2045. Through digital transformation, the Indonesian economy has the potential to grow bigger.

The results of a study by Google, Temasek, Bain & Company (2022) show that the value of Indonesia's digital economy in 2022 is recorded as the highest in Southeast Asia, which is US$77 billion, and is estimated to be able to reach US$ 130 billion by 2025. In addition, 40 percent of Southeast Asia's digital economy market share is in Indonesia.

"Therefore, we, the Government, always encourage various efforts to develop this digital economy ecosystem, especially by preparing various supporting policies and regulations. The key is collaboration from all circles," he said.

Chairman of the 2023 Top Digital Awards Organizers M. Lutfi Handayani, who is also the Editor of ItWorks Magazine, said that in line with the theme raised, it turns out that these award winners have been able to prove that the innovation, creativity and digital breakthroughs carried out, either by companies, institutions, institutions or organizations, have had a significant impact, both within the company and external relations, including with business partners or customers (the public).

"They also have a higher level of IT Security awareness in their institutions or institutions for the continuity of a better and safer digital transformation process in the future. This can be seen with the increasing number of institutions or institutions including companies that form teams and divisions for IT security," explained Lutfi.

For example, he said, including the establishment of a Computer Security Incident Response Team/CSIRT as one of the implementers of cybersecurity for cyber defense forces, Security Operations Center (SOC), Network Operations Centers (NOCs) is responsible for maintaining the company's computer system technical infrastructure, and the like.

"The assessment or awarding activities in the field of implementation and utilization of digital technology, God willing, are the largest and proudest in Indonesia. The TOP DIGITAL Awards are given to government and corporate agencies, which are considered successful in terms of implementation and utilization of digital technology," said Lutfi.

The chairman of the 2023 TOP Digital Awards Jury, Achmad Benny Mutiara, who is also the General Chair of APTIKOM, said that the TOP DIGITAL Awards organized by ItWorks magazine is very much in line with the policy direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely accelerating digital transformation to encourage increased implementation and utilization of digital technology, both in government agencies, business corporations, and other institutions.

It is explained that the determining method begins with an initial selection of 900 potential participants, to produce the best 200 candidates. IT experts and the Jury, recommend candidates for companies and government agencies, which are considered successful in terms of implementation and use of their digital technology. Some supporting data, including the results of the SPBE (Electronic-Based Government System) assessment which was relaxed by the Kemenpan RB, were also taken into consideration in this initial selection.

"There are three main criteria in determining the winner, namely first, successful companies/agencies in terms of implementation and utilization of digital technology in improving performance, competitiveness, operations, and services. Second, those who have a good IT Governance and Cyber Security system. And third, those who have superior business/application/platform solutions, who are considered successful and proud," said the chairman of the jury.

Especially for the winners of the 5-star level award, in addition to the assessment criteria being fulfilled properly, the Jury added a special criterion, namely that there are matters related to the implementation/utilization of digital technology, or there are business solutions that stand out, or that deserve to be imitated or recommended to other agencies/companies.

Innovation and utilization of digital technology are growing widely, occurring in almost all aspects of people's lives. This trend of change can be seen statistically, where the penetration of internet users in Indonesia is more than 78 percent of Indonesia's 278.8 million population in 2023. They are increasingly using the internet for various activities, services, licensing and others, including for economic activity (digital economy).

Many companies and government agencies or ministries are campaigning in the 2023 TOP Digital Awards. For companies such as Pertamina (Persero), PT Bank Jatim Tbk, PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, PTPN IV, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, PT Delta Data Mandiri, PT Petro Kimia Gresik, Fortinet Indonesia, Tbk, Xynexis International, PT Jakarta Propertindo, PT BPD NTT, RSUD dr Iskak Tulungagung, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, Artha Solution Indonesia, Perumdam Tirta Darma Ayu Indramayu Regency, Red and White Hospital Magelang Regency, PT BPR Pekanbaru Madani (Perseroda).

Meanwhile, non-companies are the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), the Directorate General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia, the Bandung Regency Government, the Malang City Government, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, the East Kutai Regency Government, and many more.
