BUMN Joint Venture Company Sells 11 Tons Of NHT Catalyst To Pertamina

JAKARTA - PT Catalys Sinergi Indonesia, which is a joint venture company of PT Pertamina Lubricants, Pupuk Kujang and Rekacipta Inovasi ITB, officially sold 11 tons of its first product of NHT catalyst to the Pertamina Refinery Unit V Balikpapan refinery.

President Director of PT Catalys Sinergi Indonesia (KSI), Achmad Setiawan, in Karawang, West Java, Saturday, said the inaugural shipment of the NHT catalyst this time was a tangible manifestation of the results of research by scientists to the commercial stage.

"The delivery of 11 tons of our first product is to answer the business opportunities of catalysts in the country. So this is an independent effort of the nation's children in providing catalyst needs," he said.

The NHT catalyst or New Hydrotracking Technology, known as an important substance in the fuel manufacturing process. The NHT catalyst function reduces sulfur levels in Nafta, an important component in gasoline production. This process contributes to final results that meet high quality standards, particularly in terms of optimizing the quality of gasoline produced by the RU V Balikpapan oil refinery.

PT Pertamina Lubricants' Corporate Secretary, Rifqi Budi Prasetyo, said that the NHT catalyst functioned very vitally.

The NHT catalyst is a substance used in the process of refinery or the process of converting crude oil into petroleum products at the RU V Balikpapan refinery.

"The NHT catalyst from PT KSI can encourage significant efficiency and productivity for the RU V Balikpapan Refinery," said Rifqi.

He admitted that Pertamina Lubricants was quite proud of the extraordinary achievement related to the initial shipment of 11 tons of catalysts to Pertamina RU V Refinery Balikpapan.

PT Catalys Sinergi Indonesia is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in the field of the chemical process industry.

The factory with an investment value of IDR 286 billion is a joint venture founded by PT Pertamina Lubricants (38 percent), Pupuk Kujang Cikampek (37 percent), and Rekacipta Innovation ITB (25 percent).

With a production capacity of 800 tons per year, KSI is projected to be able to create seven types of catalysts, namely four types of hydrotreating catalysts and three types of oleochemical catalysts, including various catalysts that can support the manufacture of environmentally friendly aircraft fuels or Pertamina Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
