JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono reviewed the simulation of the implementation of the Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) contactless toll road transaction system on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road, on Wednesday, November 22.

Basuki said that the implementation of MLFF on toll roads was a transportation breakthrough in utilizing technology.

"The technology must be ready, the challenges are how to implement it to the community. I am optimistic that this process will run smoothly. This is a process to be more advanced by utilizing technology," said Basuki in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, November 23.

He considered that the MLFF trial was a transition, as was the case with switching from cash transactions to non-cash by tapping e-money, so it would definitely take time to change people's habits.

In addition, Basuki advised that at the beginning of the implementation of the MLFF, a fairly clear socialization was carried out for people who wanted to try technology to pay for the toll road without stopping.

"So that a clear information board is given for a special route to the implementation of the MLFF so that people are ready from the time before entering the Bali-Mandara Toll Road," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR, Hedy Rahadian, said that the transition from the implementation of MLFF could run quickly.

"The sooner the better, but we have to evaluate the implementation simulation. Slowly, we removed the use of tapping, but currently it is still hybrid between MLFF and tapping," he explained.

For your information, the Ministry of PUPR will conduct a trial of the implementation of MLFF for the first time on the Bali-Mandara Toll Road.

The MLFF transition trial in the early stages is only applied to lane 4 of the Ngurah Rai Toll Gate and will be implemented at all toll gate lanes in March 2024.

The MLFF trial itself has started in the 2nd week of November 2023 and will continue to be refined on the readiness of its tools and simulations.

Then, from December 12, 2023 to January 2024, there will be a limited trial launch, especially for government employee vehicles.
