ODOL Truck Problems Have Not Been Completed, Commission V DPR Proposes A Panja

JAKARTA - The issue of vehicles that exceed the limits and burden of over-dimensional overload (ODOL) should be a serious concern for the government.

This is because ODOL vehicles themselves have caused many problems, such as road damage, traffic jams, and accidents that involve / are caused by ODOL.

Related to this, Chairman of Commission V DPR RI Lasarus proposed forming a working committee (panja) to resolve the problem, especially ahead of the 2023 Nataru holiday.

"This ODOL is a problem that is actually a protracted problem. In the LLAJ Law, it is clear that violations of ODOL have rules, namely 2 months imprisonment or a fine of Rp. 500 thousand. The problem arises if we apply it, how many ODOL cars now, how many people have to go to prison today. This is a matter of law enforcement," said Lasarus after being met at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 21.

"We have to sit down together, we have agreed to form a committee for this, we will sit down together, whether the solution will be sufficient with a committee or we will revise the LLAJ Law," he added.

Lasarus said the ODOL problem was also related to three other ministries, namely the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

According to him, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade have not yet made a permit related to production, which is directly related to the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) regarding vehicle type tests in carrying production goods.

Meanwhile, he continued, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources itself still permits mining vehicles to pass on public roads. Lasarus assessed that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources should first be able to stop mining vehicles, until the construction of special roads for that.

"Because the estuary is not only here, but in the end it is in the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which still allows the cars to exceed (capacity) than must be determined," he said.

"This is a problem, and to this day we have received information from the Ministry of Transportation that there has been no common ground between the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade which made this production permit," continued Lasarus.

Therefore, Lasarus hopes that this problem can be a common concern in the future.

"So, this is still a tangled thread, there are rules that are not implemented by us as a country so that this incident can occur and drag on to this day," he said.
