JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has asked Commission VII of the DPR RI to provide certainty about the entry of waste as a source of bioenergy into the Draft Law on New Energy and Renewable Energy (EBET).

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, said that certainty regarding waste needs to be included in the Bill by perfecting the detailed narrative of bioenergy special EBT sources by adding household waste and household waste.

Provisions related to waste management and household waste are listed in the EBET Bill Article 30 of the Problem Inventory List (DIM) 280.

"The proposal from the government is to improve the narrative of the details of the EBT source specifically for bioenergy by adding a scope of five households and household waste," said Arifin in a Working Meeting (raker) with Commission VII DPR RI, Monday, November 20.

Meanwhile, based on Government Regulation Number 81 of 2021, household waste is defined as waste originating from daily activities in households that do not include waste and specific waste.

"Utilization of organic waste and city waste is one of the national bioenergy development programs where waste can be used as an energy source," continued Arifin.

In fact, the provisions for purchasing electricity refer to the National Energy Policy (KEN) and the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN).

"The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has set the price and formula for electricity tariffs from the waste PLTSa," added Arifin.

He continued that currently the Ministerial Regulation regarding the implementation of cofiring at the PLTU had been approved by President Joko Widodo and aimed at overcoming waste problems, increasing the share of EBT and reducing emissions from PLTU.
