Maintain Well Production, PGN Saka Creates ESP Monitoring Technology

JAKARTA - PGN Saka succeeded in creating technological innovations in an operation activity called ESPN Predictive Solution (ESPresso).

This innovation is a PGN Saka solution offered for internal and open-source utilization covering two key aspects, namely Anomaly Detection and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) predictions.

PGN Saka implemented the idea by combining technology, expertise, and machine learning in ESPresso innovation, in order to develop an early warning system to monitor the performance of the Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) installed in the PGN Saka production well and predict RUL as a time detection needed to replace the unit/component of the ESPN.

Thus, it will produce the first internal collaboration solution to provide knowledge in the use of machine learning and performance understanding through data-based insight.

Thanks to Espreso's innovation, PGN Saka won 1st Place in the SKK Migas Hackaton Competition in the Proof of Concept-Advanced Level Utilization of AI/ML related to digital innovation in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry.

This achievement was obtained at the Integrated Operation Center (IOC) forum 4th 2023 on 8 to 10 November 2023 at City Hall Plaza SKK Migas.

Deputy for Exploitation of SKK Migas Wahju Wibowo who was present at the IOC Forum 2023 event said that the adoption of AI/ML in the upstream oil and gas industry has become an important need so that this industry can continue to survive and develop.

Currently, the role of technology will be very decisive in achieving business success, including in the upstream oil and gas industry.

"With a large number of assets and a limited number of workers, digitalization plays an important role in PGN Saka's daily operations. Since 2014, PGN Saka has gradually continued to increase the use of Digital technology in order to find and maintain hydrocarbon Production from the earth's stomach," said PGN Saka's President Director, Medy Kurniawan in his official statement, Thursday, November 16.

In 2023, PGN Saka has also launched a Digital Twin program in the Pangkah Working Area.

The Digital Twin is a replica of the Oil and Gas Production Facility in the form of a 3-dimensional model display, which is connected to Real-time Sensors and various supporting information such as inspection reports, technical documents, equipment images, data drawing and PNID diagrams.

The process of Digital Transformation at PGN Saka is driven by officers and women with various backgrounds, such as Operations, Engineering and Information Technology.

This time, ESPresso's innovation was initiated by Arif Afandy, Risma Yudhanto, Ifani Ramadhani (Operations Engineering), Raditia Wiyadi (IT), and Harris Pramana (Subsurface).
