Regarding TikTok Shop Will Operate Again On November 10, Zulhas: I Don't Know

JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan spoke about the issue that TikTok Shop will resume operations in Indonesia on November 10.

"I don't know yet," said the minister who is often called Zulhas to VOI at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday, November 9.

Zulhas admitted that he did not know about the news completely until now. "I don't know, there is no (information)," he said.

Recently, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki said he was asked by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to meet with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

"This week's plan (meeting). I was busy yesterday," said Teten to the media at the Bidakara Hotel, Tuesday, November 7.

Even so, Teten did not tell whether the meeting would discuss the permit for TikTok Shop in Indonesia. "We don't know yet, we'll hear first," he added.

As previously reported, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew has submitted a request to meet with President Jokowi after the Indonesian government decided to close the TikTok Shop.

However, President Jokowi suggested that Shou Zi Chew meet first with Coordinating Minister for SMEs Teten Masduki to discuss the continuation of the fate of TikTok Shop in Indonesia.

Minister Teten said TikTok Shop to do business again in Indonesia must open its own platform which is no longer combined with social media platforms.

Another option is TikTok investing in e-commerce platforms in Indonesia.
