Anies Talks About The Fate Of The Pre-Employment Card Program If Elected As President, Will It Continue?

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate (candidate) Anies Baswedan will talk about the fate of the Pre-Employment Card which is the mainstay program of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) administration if he is elected president in the 2024 presidential election.

Anies gave a signal that the program could potentially be continued.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that basically good programs and bring benefits will definitely be continued.

Even so, he stressed, the continuation of a program does not only depend on who the leader is, but whether the program provides benefits or not.

"We have principles, not whether we continue or not, no, we think it's enough that we are changing, changing. We who are in the government know exactly that the people don't care who the mayor is, the important thing is that they get benefits," he said at the Indonesian Economist 100 Sarasehan event, in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 8.

When the Pre-Employment Card program is still beneficial for the community, continued Anies, there will be opportunities to be continued during the next administration. Because, it is the duty of the state to provide programs that are able to meet the needs of the community.

"So, the principle is that all good things that are felt are useful, what the wider community feels as a program that helps, yes, of course it will be sustainable because that is indeed the task of the state," he said.

Anies also revealed that there are four aspects that are of concern to determine whether a program will continue or not. First, what aspects need to be improved. Second, what aspects need to be corrected.

Then, continued Anies, the third aspect is what needs to be eliminated. Finally, what aspects need to be made new.

"Most of us, when we talk about change, think about number three and number four, now that's dangerous in my opinion. Don't," he said.

By considering a policy based on the four aspects, said Anies, the people who will benefit will be. Because, as long as there is a program that has benefits, it is possible to continue.

"I used to be tasked in Jakarta, after that when I finished the task, there was a change, that's okay, the authority is different. But if the four principles are held, then the public will be benefiting. If that is done, then the changes are technocratic not political," he said.
