Agrarian Reform Becomes A Requirement To Reduce Inequality In Land Control And Ownership

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that Agrarian Reform is one of the Government's policies in reducing inequality in mastery and land ownership.

"So that it can reduce poverty and create jobs, to create sources of prosperity and community welfare," Airlangga said at a press conference, Tuesday, October 31.

Airlangga said that this Agrarian reform could have a direct impact on the community's economy where the per capita income of agrarian reform recipients increased by 20.02 percent in 2022.

Even so, Airlangga explained that there are still several aspects that need to be improved regarding the implementation of agrarian reforms.

On the other hand, the government has also launched Presidential Regulation Number 62 of 2023 concerning the acceleration of the implementation of agrarian reforms as an effort to accelerate the achievement of the agrarian reform target.

"Memuat empat dictasi kebijakan yaitu penyediaan Tanah Object Reforma Agrarian (TORA) khususnya dari kawasan hutan, penyelesaian konflik agraria, penguatan kelembagaan reforma agrarian, serta percepatan pelaksanaan penataan aset dan akses," jelasnya.

Furthermore, Airlangga expressed his appreciation to all parties who have encouraged the acceleration of agrarian reform and hoped that ministries/agencies to local governments can continue to play an active role in ensuring that the acceleration of the implementation of agrarian reforms can provide benefits to the welfare of the community.

"We expect full involvement from the Governor and Regent/Mayor as Chair of the Regional Agrarian Reform Task Force and cooperation with ministries/agencies, to jointly implement the action plan in Presidential Regulation Number 62 of 2023," concluded Airlangga.
