JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) introduced domestically produced portable ventilator products at the 2023 Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) event at the Singapore Expo.
Director General of the Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industry (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, said that the national ventilator industry currently meets international standards.
"We encourage the deepening of the domestic medical equipment industry, including the commercialization of related research and innovation products. We should be proud, Indonesia has been able to produce portable emergency ventilators that are not inferior to foreign products," said Taufiek in a written statement received by VOI, Monday, October 30.
At the ITAP 2023 exhibition, Indonesia introduced the C01 emergency ventilator product which has a compact size and light weight so it is easy to carry (portable), but has the same features and functions as its predecessor, the V01 Ventilator.
The Ministry of Industry, through the Directorate General of ILMATE, initiated the manufacture of the V01 ventilator, which is the first ICU ventilator created by the nation's children in Indonesia.
This innovation is the result of collaboration with Gadjah Mada University (UGM), PT Swayasa Prakarsa, PT. Yogya Presisi Tehnikatama Industri (YPTI), PT Stechoq Robotika Indonesia, CV Rajawali 3D, and specialist anesthetist consultant in the intensive care unit of RSUP Dr Sardjito Yogyakarta.
"This project is a real collaboration in developing the downstreaming of medical devices which aims to realize national independence in the field of medical devices and an effort to reduce dependence on imports," said Taufiek.
According to Taufiek, the presence of domestic ventilators will increase the competitiveness of the national medical equipment industry so that it can compete with global products.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry has included medical device products through the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP) catalogue.
"The V01 ventilator has a distribution permit from the Ministry of Health and has a TKDN certificate with a value of 43.16 percent. With a TKDN value above 40 percent, the ventilator is a mandatory item that must be purchased in government or SOE procurement," he said.
