PTBA Kembangkan Kaliandra Merah For Coal Mixture At PLTU

JAKARTA - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) cultivates a red manifold plant to be developed as biomass.

The red Kaliandra will later be processed into wood pellets, coal mixture fuels (cofiring) at Steam Power Plants (PLTU).

President Director of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Arsal Ismail said that your cultivation in red is one of the steps taken by PTBA in supporting the energy transition to achieve the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 set by the Government.

"PTBA continues to carry out transformation to realize the vision of becoming a world-class energy company that cares about the environment. Kalianda is red, which is expected to be an alternative energy source that is more environmentally friendly. In line with the Government's policy on reducing emissions," said Arsal in a statement received by VOI, Tuesday, October 10.

Director of Business Development of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Rafli Yandra explained that the red manidra plant was chosen because the wood has a high price of water, fast growth, easy growth in various conditions, and rapidly sprouting.

"The red manusdra also absorbs carbon from the air to produce biomass. By mixing biomass and coal, the emissions can be reduced," said Rafli.

In your red cultivation, PTBA involved a research team from the Veterans National Development University (UPN) Yogyakarta.

Just so you know, planting a red manifold on an area of 80 hectares (ha) has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by 119.18 tons/ha/year.

In addition, it is also a biomass store of 11,805 tons to be used as wood pellets with calories ranging from 4,500-4,700 kcal/kg, which is expected to be used for PLTU cofiring.
