JAKARTA - A total of 4,126 kilograms (kg) of fishery products consisting of live broth, ronggeng shrimp, dry sea cucumber, and fish stomach were successfully exported directly or direct call from Makassar to Hong Kong.

The delivery of exports of 4.1 tons of products was sent via Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"Alhamdulillah, this time we can export directly from Makassar to Hong Kong," said Head of the Makassar Fish Quarantine Center for Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM) Siti Chadidjah in an official statement, Monday, October 9.

Chadidjah said the commodity was exported by exporters from South Sulawesi. As one of the Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the KKP, BKIPM will support local government policies through the implementation of quality guarantees and the safety of fishery commodities.

"Of course, we really support (support) in terms of quality guarantee and product safety which will be exported directly from Makassar to Hong Kong," he said.

On this occasion, Chadidjah also ensured that all exported products had gone through a fish quarantine examination, and the quality of fishery products by competent officers.

"Of course, this will make exports from South Sulawesi to Hong Kong more effective and efficient. Hopefully, in the future more business actors will enjoy this convenience," he said.

In addition to the inauguration of the Makassar-Hong Kong direct call, a cooperation was also signed between the South Sulawesi Provincial Government and the district/city government to be able to make this direct export a success. This activity is intended to facilitate good communication, coordination, and cooperation with all parties.

"Of course, this coordination will facilitate exports of fishery commodities to various countries around the world and support regional economic improvements in the Marine and Fisheries sectors," he added.

Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Minister of KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono asked his staff to facilitate fishery business actors, both in mentoring, certification, profiling of market potential, to strengthening the role of quality assurance of products produced by business actors.
