Citing the official BPJT website of the Ministry of PUPR, on Tuesday, September 26, this toll road is part of the Trans Java Toll Road network that will connect the western end to the eastern tip of Java Island.

The Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road consists of 2 stages of construction implementation. In stage 1, it is divided into Section 1 Gending-Kraksaan (12.88 km) with construction progress of 15.01 percent, Section 2 Krakatan-Paiton (11.20 km) with construction progress of 2.61 percent, and Section 3 Paiton-Besuki (25.6 km) with construction progress of 0.65 percent.

Meanwhile, for the progress phase 2 of the Besuki-Banyuwangi toll road along 126.72 km, the construction is targeted to be completed after 2024. The construction of this toll road consists of Section 4 Besuki-Situbondo (43.30 km), Section 5 Situbondo-Asembagus (16.76 km), Section 6 Asembagus-Bajulmati (37.45 km), and Section 7 Bajulmati-Ketapang (29.21 km).

It is known that the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Phase 1 will have three Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Kraksaan, GT Paiton, and GT Besuki, and have 3 intersections, namely the Kraksaan Interchange (SS), SS Paiton, and SS Besuki.

In addition, stage 1 will also be equipped with two rest areas located at Sta 33+65 in both directions from Probolinggo and Besuki.

Later, the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road for the Probolinggo-Besuki Section will cut Probolinggo's travel time to Besuki, which was previously around 1 hour and 15 minutes of the trip to be faster.

So it only takes 30 minutes of travel with an average travel time of 80-100 km/hour.
