JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) against Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani related to alleged extortion of a number of regional devices in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the case being investigated was related to alleged extortion carried out by the regional head to regional officials in the Sukoharjo Regency Government environment.

"This case is related to the alleged extortion by the regent to the regional apparatus in Sukoharjo Regency," Budi Prasetyo said in his statement, Friday, July 10.

However, the KPK has not revealed in detail the construction of the case or the modus operandi of the alleged extortion. All parties who were arrested first underwent an initial examination at the Surakarta Police before being taken to the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, for further examination.

"The parties were then subjected to an initial examination at the Surakarta Police, and this morning they will be taken to Jakarta for further examination," said Budi.

In the OTT, the KPK secured five people, including the regent of Sukoharjo. However, the identities of the other four people have not yet been revealed to the public. "In this case of being caught in the act, the team secured a total of five people, one of whom was the regent of Sukoharjo," said Budi.

In addition, the KPK has not detailed the evidence seized in the operation. Investigators are still conducting intensive examinations of Etik Suryani and other parties who have been secured.

According to the provisions, the KPK has a maximum of 1 x 24 hours from the arrest to determine the legal status of the parties involved in OTT, including whether to establish a suspect in the alleged extortion case.
