BI Governor Perry Warjiyo said that the value of electronic money transactions (EU) in August 2023 increased by 8.62 percent year on year (yoy) to reach Rp38.51 trillion.

Perry explained that the nominal QRIS transactions grew by 89.64 percent (yoy) to reach Rp18.33 trillion, with 40.05 million users and 28.38 million merchants, most of which were MSMEs.

"Bank Indonesia continues to encourage the acceleration of digitalization of payment systems and the expansion of cooperation between countries in payment systems to encourage financial economic inclusion and expansion of the digital economy and finance," he stressed.

Meanwhile, Perry revealed that the value of payment transactions using ATM cards, debit cards, and credit cards reached IDR 679.16 trillion.

"This number has decreased by 6.00 percent on an annual basis (yoy)," he said.

In terms of rupiah currency management, the amount of Circulated Kartal Money (UYD) in August 2023 increased 4.66 percent (yoy) to Rp944.70 trillion.
