JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) today is known to have held the first cabinet working meeting following the series of ASEAN and G20 summit agendas throughout last week.

“I'm back in Jakarta and busy with various things. "This afternoon at the Merdeka Palace, taking a photo with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and several ministers after an internal cabinet meeting discussing the Jakarta Special Region Bill," she said.

The Minister of Finance explained that Law no. 3 of 2022 concerning the National Capital mandates the need to replace Law no. 29 of 2007 concerning the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta as the Capital of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The transfer of the National Capital City based on the IKN Law changes the status of Jakarta, which was originally a Special Capital Region to become a Special Jakarta Region or DKJ," she said.

The Minister of Finance revealed that the DKJ Bill carries the concept of the Jakarta Special Region becoming a global city and the largest economic center in Indonesia.

“There are many aspects of state finances that need to be regulated in the DKJ Bill. "The other Ministers reported on the preparation and substance of the DKJ Bill and discussed obtaining direction from President Jokowi and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin," she stressed.

For your information, the government continues to accelerate the development of core areas and basic infrastructure in Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) in order to smooth out plans to move the capital city in the near future.
