Reduce Global Warming, PHR Builds 25 MW Solar Power Plant In Rokan Block

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) built a solar power plant or PLTS with a capacity of 25 megawatts in the Rokan Block, Riau Province. This is a form of contribution in reducing the problem of climate change and global warming. "PLTS is built in our oil and gas operations area which includes Rumbai, Duri, and Dumai," said PHR Corporate Secretary Rudi Ariffianto quoting Antara. Rudi explained that the solar power stun plant was built on an area of 28.16 hectares and the installation of solar panels on the roof. The energy captured on the solar panels was later changed through the inverter so that its electrical energy could be utilized in the Rokan Block.

PHR targets the construction of environmentally friendly electrical installations not only to reduce carbon emissions by 23 thousand tons per year, but also reduce the use of gas fuel by millions of standard cubic foot metrics (MMSCF) per year. "The first phase of PLTS is 25 megawatt peak (MWp) and the second stage is planned for 200 MWp," said Rudi.

Rudi further said that PLTS is a form of utilization of one of the alternative energy sources that is environmentally friendly.

With the sun shining throughout the year, LAPAN noted that the average daily radiation of solar energy is 4.8 KWh per square meter. For Indonesia as an archipelagic country, solar energy is one of the best energy alternatives and can be the main energy source in the future. "PLTS Rokan Block to support carbon emission reduction and support the government's target to accelerate energy transition and energy mix targets from new renewable energy," said Rudi. "The project also optimizes the use of domestic components in accordance with government regulations related to TKDN," he said.
