JAKARTA - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk through PT Medco E&P Malaka (Medco E&P) signed a sale and purchase agreement for electricity (PJBTL) with PT PLN Aceh's Main Distribution Unit (UID).
The signing was carried out by General Manager Medco E&P Malaka Iwan Sutrisno and General Manager of PLN UID Aceh Parulin Noviandri in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 8.
Based on the Agreement, PLN will supply 5.19 MVA electricity at the Central Processing Plant Block A, East Aceh. The signing was also witnessed by VP Operations Onshore Medco E&P Jhon Hakim Ginting.
Medco's VP Relations & Security E&P Arif Rinaldi said through this PJBTL, the Company can reduce GRK emissions by around 36,000 tons of CO2e per year. This initiative also saves the use of 1.8 MMSCFD of gas fuel.
"The Company's steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are to reduce the use of fossil energy so as to increase asset operational efficiency and can also increase energy consumption from renewable energy sources," Arif told the media, Wednesday, August 9.
In the previous year, said Arif, the company was able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 79,000 tCO2e per year in 2022.
Meanwhile, GM PLN UID Aceh Parulian Noviandri said, with the current operation of PLTU Nagan Raya 3, the electricity condition in Aceh has the capability of 822 Mega Watt with a peak load of 567 Mega Watt, a surplus of 260 Mega Watt.

"Moreover, with the operation of PLTU Nagan Raya 4 of 200 MW which will operate in December 2023 and PLTA Peusangan 1 and 2 with a total power of 90 MW which will operate at the end of this year and 2024," Parulian continued.
