Too Narrow Long-span Causing Slow Driving, Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: LRT Mileage Remains The Same

JAKARTA - The Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi ensured that the Jabodebek LRT trip would not be disturbed by the condition of the long-span or long-span curved bridge from Gatot Subroto to Kuningan.

For your information, the long-span at the Kuningan junction is called a misdesign. As a result, the bend becomes narrow, so the Jabodebek LRT train has to travel slowly when crossing the bend.

According to Budi, the long-span is quite optimal even though the speed of the train must be reduced by 50 percent when it passes the Kuningan intersection. Budi estimates that the average speed of the LRT from Harjamukti Station to Dukuh Atas Station will still reach 80 km per hour.

Furthermore, Budi said the travel time when the LRT trial was carried out today was 49 minutes. The target travel time for Cibubur-Dukuh Atas, said Budi, is 43 minutes.

"The average is 80 km per hour, at that point it is roughly half of 40 km per hour. but there is one clue that we will do, like earlier we took 49 minutes because we have to make stops, the automation will be 43 minutes from Cibubur before Hajamukti," he said at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, August 3.

Budi also promised that the LRT travel time between stations would not change or for three minutes. He is committed that the travel time from Harjamukti Station to Dukuh Atas will always be the same.

"On time, so if we're 43 minutes later, yes 43 minutes, we can't bounce. Want to be there 20 km per hour, 40 km per hour, must be compensated at other distances," he said.

On this occasion, Budi said that the presence of the Jabodebek LRT could reduce travel time by 50 percent from around 90 minutes using private vehicles.

"But imagine now from Cibubur to Jakarta, it's 1.5 hours before, later it will be 40 minutes, it's awesome," he said.
