JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked entrepreneurs to intervene in reducing the stunting rate in the country. The reason is, the stunting rate is still at 22 percent as of 2022.

Jokowi said, although this figure showed a decline from 37 percent in 2015. However, Jokowi targets to drop to 14 percent by 2024.

Even so, Jokowi sees that reducing stunting rates is not an easy thing. Therefore, Jokowi asked businessmen to step in to reduce stunting.

"Our target later in 2024 will be 14 percent. But I see that in the field it is not an easy thing, but I am sure that difficulties and impasses will be able to (determine), we can achieve the target if there is participation from entrepreneurs and I appreciate Apindo in terms of stunting," he said in his remarks at the Apindo DPN Management Inauguration event, in Jakarta, Monday, July 31.

For example, continued Jokowi, one entrepreneur can become an adopted parent for two toddlers. So, if there are 1,000 entrepreneurs involved, they can fund 2,000 toddlers.

"If this was conveyed by Mrs. Shinta, there were 1,000 entrepreneurs, for example, 1 entrepreneur being (parents) adopted from our 2,000 toddlers, if the big ones only took care of 2,000, it's very small," he said.

The former governor of DKI Jakarta said that what was given to the children was not a big thing.

Jokowi said, it is enough to provide nutritious food such as chicken meat, fish, beef, eggs and vegetables.

"It's not a big thing. But routine, routine must be done. Usually what is routine, weighing every month looks like the results are consistent," he said.
