Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that the construction of the elevated railway at Simpang Joglo, Solo, Central Java, is targeted next year.

"In Solo, we are working on completing the construction of an elevated (gliding) 270-meter-long railroad bridge, precisely at the Joglo intersection. It is targeted that by June 2024 it can be used," he said in an official statement, Monday, July 31.

This was conveyed by Budi after checking the progress of the railway project in Solo, Central Java, as well as providing direction to his staff within the Central Java Region I Railway Engineering Center (BTP).

Budi instructed his staff to ensure that work is carried out with good quality and in accordance with the set target. In addition, he also asked his staff to carry out work in accordance with good governance and uphold integrity.

Budi said, the bridge frame used in the construction of this railroad bridge uses round iron and most of the construction is the work of the nation's children.

"This technology is the first to be carried out in Southeast Asia and 90 percent of it is local products," he said.

The construction of this elevated rail, said Budi, is expected to overcome the congestion that has been happening so far due to a level crossing at Simpang Joglo, Solo.

The existence of the Solo-Semarang double train line is very important to increase the relationship between the cities of Solo, Semarang, Purwokerto, and Yogyakarta (Joglosemar agglomeration).

A number of railway improvement projects that are being carried out in Central Java, including in Solo in 2022-2024, include the construction of the KA Doubles Line between Solo "Semarang Phase I" (Solobalapan "Kalioso") (2022 2024) including the construction of the 10 Km Joglo Intersection Train and the 270 meter long Joglo Intersection Steel Confinement Bridge.

Then, increase the Maos-Cilacap train line along 21 km (2023-2024); Improvement of the 32 km (2023-2024) Solo-Wonogiri train line; Reactivation of the Semarang Tawang-Landing Tanjung Emas phase II train line for 2.1 km; as well as construction of the culvert box at BH 1149 km 312+075 between Linggapura-Bumiayu and the Open Channel between BH 1313 KM 336+686 between Karangsari-Karanggandul cross Cirebon-Kroya.
