This Is The Strategy Of The KKP To Boost Superior Human Resources In The Fisheries Marine Sector

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) continues to boost the quality of human resources (HR) in the KP sector through formal education strategies to various trainings.

Head of the Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources Agency (BRSDM) I Nyoman Rudiarta said BRSDM had transformed into the Marine and Fisheries Human Resources Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDM KP).

"This transformation marks the commitment of BPPSDM in preparing superior KP human resources for the Blue Economy which is carried out through various aspects, such as education, training, counseling and competency development, which are integrated entirely through two strategic programs, Vocal Goes to Actors (VOGA) and Smart Fisheries Village (SFV)," he said in a press statement, quoted Thursday, July 20.

Nyoman said that the quality of human resources (HR) is indeed a challenge in the midst of the huge potential of the marine and fisheries sector that must be managed by the state. According to him, human resources are the main key to the success of the development of the marine and fisheries sector.

Based on the Global Innovation Index (2022), Indonesia's position is still below China, even with neighboring countries, Malaysia, in the institutional categories, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication, business socialization, knowledge and output technology, and creative output.

This can also be seen in the absorption of labor, which is not yet optimal in the fields of fisheries, marine tourism, marine industry, sea transportation, marine buildings, and marine services.

"To produce graduates who are qualified, certified, and professional, we also uphold collaboration with educational partners, in developing the capacity of human resources, research, and community service in the field of KP," said Nyoman.

He also said that his party would collaborate to develop the implementation of Marine and Fisheries Higher Education, exchange of knowledge, information, and experience in an integrated partnership model with universities, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

"We are also carrying out research and product development; and making joint funding for higher education support," said Nyoman.

The HR development efforts are implemented through educational scholarships, training, internships, research and study, as well as working practices in the field of KP.

Then, there is technology transfer and publications of related scientific journals, utilization of infrastructure, data and information exchange, exchange of educators and students and training, as well as entrepreneurship and the establishment of MSMEs.

"A synergistic partnership with governments, academics, and stakeholders in realizing an Advanced Indonesia and the 2045 World Maritime Civilization Center," said Nyoman.
