The ASEAN Summit Is Considered To Have An Impact On Regional Economic Growth

JAKARTA - The holding of the 43rd ASEAN Summit (KTT) is considered to have an impact on economic growth in Indonesia and Papua.

Acting Mayor of Jayapura, Papua, Frans Pekey said that the implementation of the ASEAN Summit will certainly discuss various regional policies whose results will have an impact on advancing diplomatic and economic and social relations.

"So of course this will grow the economy through the tourism sector, business and also Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)," Pekey said quoting Antara.

According to him, the implementation of the ASEAN Summit will also produce policies between countries related to trade relations, so that this has the potential to increase the community's economy.

"So that the policy produced at the ASEAN meeting in Jakarta on September 5-7, 2023, certainly has an impact on economic growth for the welfare of the people in Indonesia, including Papua," he said.

He explained that the policies generated from the ASEAN Summit must be followed up through state policies both for domestic production and related to product exports to ASEAN member countries.

He added that relating domestic product exports to ASEAN member countries will provide opportunities for MSME players in each region to market the products produced.

"We also hope that MSMEs in Papua specifically in Jayapura City can prepare themselves by producing quality products so that they can compete with other regions in Indonesia," he said again.
