The Ministry of Trade launched the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) with the theme Sustainable Trade for Global Economic Resilience, today. The potential for transactions targeted at this exhibition reached 11 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 167.6 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp. 15,238 per dollar).

Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan expects the transaction value at this year's TEI exhibition to be greater than the previous year.

Today we launched Trade Expo Indonesia in 2023. To increase exports, the keyword is cooperation. Last year, we recorded USD 15.83 billion in the 37th TEI. So, this year it must be even better," he said, in Jakarta, Monday, July 10.

For your information, in TEI 2023, the Ministry of Trade is targeting a potential transaction of US$11 billion or Rp167.6 trillion. This target increased by 10 percent from the 37th TEI in 2022 by 10 billion US dollars.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas invites all stakeholders to strengthen cooperation in increasing exports of Indonesian products. Increasing exports of Indonesian products is an effort that must be jointly guarded.

He said, the Ministry of Trade is committed to encouraging the increase in exports of Indonesian products, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

"Once again, the keyword is cooperation. I thank all parties for their support and cooperation," he said.

TEI Exhibition Schedule Offline And Online

Meanwhile, said Zulhas, the online exhibition will take place from 18 October to 18 December 2023 and is accessed through its official website.

In the 38th TEI, export superior products will be displayed in seven product zones. The seven zones are Food & Beverages; Home Living; Digital & Services; Beauty & Personal Care; Chemical, Energy & Industrial Product; Medical Equipment & Healthcare; and Fashion, Textile & Accessories.

Zulhas is optimistic that the implementation of TEI in a hybrid format will be able to encourage the realization of the target potential for these transactions.

Hopefully this year it can be higher than last year's potential transaction achievement. We are grateful for last year's cooperation from Indonesian ambassadors who brought in potential buyers, state-owned enterprises, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, local governments who have sent their best MSMEs to TEI, and business actors. We will repeat the cooperation this year and we will do even better," he said.

Zulhas said that at the TEI 2023 exhibition there will also be activities in the form of business matching, business counseling, and international seminars that will discuss trade policies and market trends.

Therefore, Zulhas encourages exporters to see potential market opening opportunities in non-traditional export destination countries. In this case, the Ministry of Trade continues to strive to open markets in South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

We are trying to open a new market. For example, South Asia with a population of 2 billion which includes Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Middle East with a population of 500 million people, as well as Africa with a population of 1.4 billion people. So, we continue to maximize traditional markets and we work on non-traditional markets," he said.
