This Is Pertamina NRE's Step To Support The Electric Vehicle Ecosystem

JAKARTA - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) is committed to actively helping build a battery-based electric motor vehicle (KBLBB) ecosystem.

Pertamina's Director of Projects and Operations NRE Norman Ginting explained that Pertamina is building the KBLBB ecosystem with various initiatives and pilot projects that have been and will be carried out, such as the development of the Battery Swapping Station/Charging Station and Hydrogen Fuel Station for the Fuel Cell EV.

"Pertamina through its subholding, Pertamina NRE, which has participation in Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC), has aspirations to enter the value chain of the battery and KBLBB ecosystem from upstream to downstream," he said, quoted on Thursday, June 15.

According to Norman, Pertamina sees Indonesia as the country with the largest nickel reserves in the world as having a strategic role in the development of the battery industry and the KBLBB ecosystem to meet local and global needs.

In addition, he continued, Pertamina has a very wide supply and distribution network in Indonesia.

"This is the initial capital in carrying out the transition to infrastructure development of battery swapping and charging so that electric vehicle users can easily charge their vehicles," Norman explained.

In addition, Pertamina sees the importance of the need for battery pack standardization, especially for two-wheeled electric motorized vehicles, to make it easier for users to exchange batteries.

Norman added that Pertamina views that many regulations have been issued by the Government to accelerate the adoption of the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia.

"However, it still needs to be increased by several additional special regulations/incentives for the use of electric vehicles, so that electric vehicles are more attractive to users," he continued.

Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso said that the development of the KBLBB ecosystem is in line with the commitment to support NZE 2060 by running an energy transition roadmap.

The realization of a good electric vehicle ecosystem will support Indonesia's energy transition program and the achievement of Indonesia's NZE 2060 target. Through Sub Holding New & Renewable Energy, Pertamina is committed to continuing to develop clean energy in Indonesia in the form of initiatives in the development of new and renewable energy and decarbonization," said Fadjar.
