JAKARTA - The Government of Indonesia and the Government of Japan have agreed to implement a Private-to-Private (p-to-p) scheme for the placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) Specified Skill Workers (SSW) to Japan which is effective in March 2023.

Therefore, the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah invites people who are interested in working abroad, especially Japan, to take advantage of the scheme.

"We invite people who want to work in Japan to take advantage of this SSW scheme," Ida said in an official statement, Thursday, June 8.

Ida stated that the Ministry of Manpower will continue to socialize the placement of PMI SSW through the P to P scheme to all stakeholders, so that the placement of PMI SSW to Japan can be implemented immediately.

Furthermore, Ida explained the cost of placement. He said, the costs have been further regulated through the Decree of the Head of BP2MI.

"In this socialization, we will also explain the flow of the process of placing the P to P scheme as a mechanism for placing PMI SSW to Japan as agreed bilaterally," he said.

Ida explained that the implementation of the P to P scheme placement process would be carried out in stages, starting with publications, socialization and dissemination of all stakeholders and the community regarding the implementation of the P to P scheme for the placement of PMI SSW to Japan.

"Then it was continued with the opening of the P to P placement scheme for PMI SSW to Japan through changes to the Kepdirjen Binapenta and PKK regarding the determination of the destination country for the placement of PMI which was open during the adaptation period for new habits," he said.

Ida also said that the process of placing the P to P scheme would involve the role of the placement agency in Indonesia called the Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Company (P3MI) and the placement agency in Japan called the Japanese Employment Placement Service Provider (JEPSP).

P3MI is an institution that already has an official permit or license from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower to carry out the placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers abroad.

Meanwhile, JEPSP is an institution that already has an official permit or license from the Ministry of Health, Manpower and Welfare or Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) Japan to carry out the placement of Foreign Workers in Japan.

Ida said, the opening of the P to P scheme also answered the needs of the Japanese Worker or the Japanese Accepting Organization (JAO) and PMI for the services of the placement company. Thus, it is hoped that the number of PMI placements as SSW to Japan can increase.

"The opportunity to work in Japan is a very good opportunity for Indonesian workers considering the rules related to foreign workers that apply in Japan are quite good in protecting foreign workers. In addition, Japanese culture and work habits can be good role models for PMI in increasing soft skills," he said.
