PGN Saka Ready To Explore Potential Oil And Gas In Sangkar Working Area

JAKARTA - PT Saka Energi Indonesia (PGN Saka) as the affiliate of PGN Subholding Gas Pertamina is trusted by the government to explore and exploit oil and natural gas in Sangkar Working Area (WK) through PT Saka Exploration Timur with an area of 8,122.58 square kilometers.

SKK Migas and PGN Saka have signed the contract for the distribution of Sangkar WK results to PGN Saka, which is the result of the 2022 Phase II Direct Offering auction, witnessed by the Director General of Oil and Gas, Tutuka Ariadji last Sunday, May 30, in Jakarta.

Director General of Oil and Gas of Earth, Tutuka Ariadji, said the total investment in Commitment must be the first three years of exploration of US$3 million, including G&G study activities, acquisition and processing of 150 square kilometers of 3D seismic data.

WK Sangkar is located in the oceans and mainland East Java and Central Java. Estimates of 130 MMBO and 300 BCF Gas oil resources in Sangkar WK, are expected to increase the company's portfolio as well as for the state.

"The Indonesian government will continue to strive to support the development of upstream oil and gas activities by continuing to improve in the oil and gas management system so that it can increase investor confidence in making investments," said Tutuka in an official statement, Monday, June 5.

The location of the Prospects and Lead located in the Offshore area of WK Sangkar is close to the WK Pangkah prospect area, which is currently operated 100 percent by PGN Saka.

The acquisition process for Sangkar WK was obtained through the Direct Offering mechanism which began with the evaluation of Joint Study (JSA) between PGN Saka and the Government.

Then PGN Saka participated in the WK Migas Direct Offering auction before finally being awarded to PT Saka Exploration Timur on February 22, 2023.

"SKK Migas is ready to support KKKS efforts in managing the Working Area and accelerating the exploration process," said Dwi Soetjipto as Head of SKK Migas.

Meanwhile, PGN President Director Saka Avep Disasmita said that with the addition of this working area, it is hoped that it can integrate with the current PGN Saka facility, namely at WK Pangkah and WK Muriah, they will also continue their positive performance, which has managed to record 109 percent production achievements throughout 2022.

In addition to efforts to increase exploration, one of PGN Saka's current operational supporters is the optimization of Pertamina Smooth Fluid Drilling as a tangible form between Pertamina's Subholding.

Smooth Fluid is used as the basic ingredient for oil based mud drilling for drilling the development of the Sidayu Field in Pangkah WK.

Smooth Fluid products are domestically proven quality production, thereby increasing effectiveness and efficiency in drilling applications.
