DENPASAR - PT PLN (Persero) will start digitizing 555,970 kWh meter customers throughout Bali by replacing the analog kWh meter in customers with a smart meter Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) which will be carried out in stages from June to December 2023.

The Efficiency, Measurement and Distribution System Quality Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Bali Distribution Main Unit I Nyoman Jendra said the digitization of kWh meter was carried out by utilizing various communication technologies to measure, record and monitor the use of electrical energy in customer meters in real time, and accelerate disruption services.

He said that using a digital kWh meter or smart meter, recording the use of electricity on the customer side is more accurate and reduces the risk of error in the number of meters.

"In 2023, there will be updates from manual meters to digital meters or smart meters whose goal is to improve the quality of PLN services to customers," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 1.

Jendra said the replacement was carried out to provide convenience for customers. To make the program a success, PLN will deploy no less than 850 to 1,000 officers.

He hopes that the program will have no obstacles so that it can be completed in December 2023.

Meanwhile, the Communications & TJSL Manager of PT PLN (Persero) UID Bali I Made Arya said that in accordance with the KWh meter Electrical Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPJBTL) which was installed belonged to PLN, therefore PLN was entitled and obliged to carry out maintenance so that customers were expected to work together to make this program a success.

Arya stated that the program is free and customers are not charged any fees.

"There are always people who try to make personal benefits so that the public is more aware of those who want to take advantage of this program by asking for a sum of money, because this program is free of charge," he said.

Arya said that PLN officers who went to the field who replaced the meter would be equipped with a letter of assignment and identity.

Therefore, if the customer feels doubtful about the officer who comes, he can ask and confirm it by asking to show a letter of assignment and identity.
