Strengthen The Expert Team For Disclosure Of Fisheries Cases, KKP Gets 7 Education Institutions In Aceh

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries cooperates with seven educational institutions in Aceh Province to strengthen a team of experts in uncovering fisheries cases.

The seven educational institutions include Malikussaleh University, Malahayati Aceh Shipping Polytechnic, Teuku Umar University, Abulyatama University, State Vocational School 4 Banda Aceh, Matauli Fisheries and Marine College, and Bung Hatta University.

"We express our appreciation to every educational institution that has committed with the KKP to implement science and technology in their respective fields to strengthen the supervision of marine and fishery resources," said Adin Nurawaluddin, Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) in his official statement, Monday, May 29.

Adin said, through this collaboration, the KKP plans to immediately form a team of experts who will handle the calculation of the valuation of the damage to fish resources and their environment, coral reefs, seagrass, and coastal areas when there is a dispute outside the court.

This is in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 28 of 2020 concerning Procedures for Settlement of Disputes in Management of Coastal Areas and Small Islands, namely if there is damage or coastal pollution in the management of coastal areas and small islands caused by individual or corporate businesses, the government can form a dispute resolution team, one of which is a competent expert in its field.

"In line with the principle of restorative justice, through a team of experts formed, assessment of the type, area, and amount of losses caused by damage or coastal pollution can be carried out professionally. So, the perpetrators will pay the losses according to the damage they cause," concluded Adin.

The signing of the cooperation agreement has been carried out from early 2023 to May. Adin said, in addition to cooperation related to the formation of a team of experts, the KKP through the Directorate General of PSDKP will help develop the quality of human resources to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and the Independent Learning Program of the Merdeka Campus.

"Similar cooperation is not only carried out in Aceh Province, but also with educational institutions in other regions," he concluded.
