JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 3 Semarang Port agreed to borrow some of its managed HPL land in the Semarang and Tambaklorok Port areas to the Semarang City Government. The land will be used for handling tidal flooding.

This action was realized through the signing of a cooperation related to land lending in the Tanjung Emas Port area to carry out the tidal flood management program.

The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu, and Regional Head of Pelindo Regional 3, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki at the Semarang Mayor's Office, Wednesday, May 11.

Regional Head Pelindo Regional 3, Ardhy Wahyu Basuki said this cooperation agreement is clear evidence that the industrial and service sectors together with local governments can work together in solving complex problems.

According to Ardhy, this collaboration will provide significant benefits for the people of Semarang in reducing the risk of frequent tidal flooding. It also shows how important the role of companies in making positive contributions to communities where they operate.

Furthermore, Ardhy said that this project must be implemented immediately so that the tidal incident will not have an impact on the community.

"Of course this is a good program from the Semarang City government and as a company we have an obligation to participate in the success of this program through the cooperation we signed," he said in an official statement, Thursday, May 11.

Ardhy added, Pelindo will provide a loan using land for the Tanjung Mas Port area covering an area of 187,804 m2 which is divided into two Pelindo HPL certificates in the Tambakrejo Village area and Rejomulyo Village to be used as a means for the Semarang City Government in terms of handling tidal floods in the form of sea embankments, retention ponds as well as construction of flats in the Tambaklorok area or area of Semarang.

"So our HPL land in the Tambaklorok area, semarang, we borrow it to the Semarang City Government, basically this good program must be encouraged together," concluded Ardhy.

On that occasion, the Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu expressed her appreciation and gratitude to Pelindo for the steps taken in this cooperation agreement.

According to him, this will be a good start in efforts to handle the tidal wave in Semarang which will later be carried out by the Semarang City Government.

"Hopefully this collaboration can be an example for all interested parties to work together to overcome the problems faced by our society," he said.

Previously, Pelindo also made efforts to handle the tidal wave in the coastal areas of Semarang and ports. One of them is the construction of a 500 meter long embankment with a height of 3 meters belonging to an industrial area that had broken down and had been completed in 2022 to anticipate similar incidents that did not happen again.
