Airplane Passengers At Angkasa Pura II Airports Achieve 18.2 Million In The First Quarter Of 2023

PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II recorded the number of passenger movements at 20 airports managed by AP II in the first quarter of 2023 reaching 18.2 million people both domestically and internationally.

This figure is up 53.58 percent compared to the first quarter of 2022. The movement of passengers during January-March 2023 is also about 12 percent higher than the initial estimate.

AP II VP of Corporate Communications Cin Asmoro in a written statement said the better handling the COVID-19 pandemic was also very supportive of the recovery of the air transportation sector.

"Flight traffic at AP II airport grew quite significantly. We are grateful that AP II and stakeholders can collaborate closely in meeting demand so that we can support people's travel needs well," said Cin Asmoro, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, April 5.

As for the first quarter of 2023, the cumulative number of aircraft movements at 20 AP II airports also increased by about 30 percent to 140,800 flights.

"The increase in the number of airplane passengers in the first quarter of 2023 was also supported by an increase in the number of flights. The movement of aircraft increased, which is also in line with AP II efforts to ensure the availability of slot times at airports to support airlines in operating flights," he said.

Furthermore, he said the realization of flight traffic data throughout January-March 2023 made AP II optimistic that it could achieve the target number of passengers reaching 73 million passengers by 2023, an increase of 18 percent compared to 2022.

The number of passengers as many as 73 million people themselves reflects the recovery rate of 81 percent from 2019 when there was no COVID-19 pandemic.

"Looking at the first three months of data, we are optimistic that during January-December 2023 the cumulative number of passenger movements at 20 AP II airports can reach 73 million people. Of course AP II continues to collaborate closely with airlines and other stakeholders to achieve this target," said Cin Asmoro.

AP II noted that Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the airport that mostly serves airplane passengers. The growth of flight traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is significant so that AP II runs a capacity balancing program at the passenger terminal.

"We have carried out the terminal capacity balancing program, namely through the transfer of airlines from one terminal to another. The terminal capacity balance ensures Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 can be optimal in providing services to aircraft passengers and ensuring flights run smoothly," he said.

AP II currently manages 20 airports, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Jakarta), Halim Perdanakusuma (Jakarta), Kualanamu (Medan), Supadio (Pontianak), Minangkabau (Padang), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru), Husein Sastranegara (Bandung).

Furthermore, Sultan Iskandarmuda (Banda Aceh), Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjungpinang), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Silangit (North Tapanuli), Kertajati (Majalengka), Banyuwangi (Banyuwangi), Tjilik Riwut (Palangka Raya), Radin Inten II (Lampung), HAS Hanandjoeddin (Tanjung Pandan), Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), and General Besar Sudirman (Purbalingga).
