Reasons For Imported Used Clothes, Minister Of Trade Zulhas: There Are Many Rat Roads!

JAKARTA - The trade in used imported clothes or known as Thrifting is increasingly mushrooming. This trade is inseparable from people's preferences in shopping at low prices but still trending today.

Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan spoke about this phenomenon. He said, these used imported clothes should not be traded in the country.

Regarding the proliferation of sales of imported used clothes, Zulhas, Zulkifli Hasan's nickname, said this because Indonesia as an archipelagic country has many entrances or "rat roads".

Zulhas admitted that he was detecting the rat lane used by importers to enter imported used clothes into the country. Detection is carried out by involving the task force (task force) and reports from the public.

"We really have a lot of weakness, we need to cooperate with the Task Force so that it can be detected. The only important thing is reports from the public," he said, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 15 yesterday.

According to Zulhas, these imported used clothes are very dangerous. The reason is, these clothes carry many disease bacteria.

Not only that, said Zulhas, the trade in imported used clothes can also harm micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"Of course people are harmed because used clothes are dangerous and can be fungal, can carry disease. Second, it can destroy our MSMEs," he said.

In fact, said Zulhas, the state also lost billions of rupiah as a result of this imported used shirt trading. For example, he said, the case in Mojokerto, the state's loss reached more than Rp. 10 billion.

Apart from Mojokerto, Zulhas admitted that he found a similar case in Pekanbaru with a much larger value.

"In Mojokerto more than Rp10 billion, in Pekanbaru on March 17 I will destroy there in Riau Pekanbaru, there are a lot of 900 bals that we want to burn," he said.
