JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said President Joko Widodo had given orders for permits for various major events to be accelerated through digitalization. Sandiaga said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan who would lead its implementation.

"In accordance with a limited meeting, the president has given permission to facilitate all activities, such as concerts, sports, arts and culture, music, and other creative economy activities, of course the president wants digitalization to integrate all permits that have been felt for a long time," Sandiaga said at the event "The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno", Monday, February 27.

Sandiaga said that Jokowi's target for major international events was a principle permit to leave 6 months before the event, a technical permit to exit 3 months before the activity, and a final permit no later than 45 days before the event was held.

"Of course, this will later be under the command of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, we will integrate all permits, both from the central government level, as well as local governments and cross-ministerial institutions, including from police friends," he said.

The standardized and digitalized event licensing flow, continued Sandiaga, will facilitate more than 3,000 large medium-scale activities that have the potential to create economic movement of up to IDR 170 trillion.

He added that his party had seen the results of the Ivendo (Indonesia Event Industry Council) survey which stated that post-pandemic event activities had begun to be carried out well with the movement of economic value reaching Rp423 billion.

"It is still relatively small compared to before the pandemic of Rp164 trillion per year. Of course, we also hope that this will continue to attract event activities, including Mice (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition)," explained Sandiaga.

Related to this, he also gave an example of the Mice Asean Tourism Forum which was successfully held in Yogyakarta. Sandiaga said that his party would target the Chinese market.

"We must be able to organize it successfully and like the Chinese market we are targeting, the target is 255,300 people with an upper limit target and the Mice sector accounts for about 25 percent of the target," he concluded.
