JAKARTA – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) stated that the 2023 Canada-ASEAN Business & Investment Forum confirmed the consistency of the North American country to participate in economic development in the Southeast Asian region.

Deputy Chairperson of the Transportation Sector Denon Prawiraatmadja said that Indonesia was ready to seize investment opportunities from Canadian entrepreneurs.

"Indonesia is trying to be a door for potential investors from Canada to enter Indonesia," he said in a written statement on Sunday, February 26.

According to Denon, RI prioritizes investment in the sustainable development sector (sustainable infrastructure).

"We clearly confirm that Canada is trying to participate in this development," he said.

Even so, Denon revealed that efforts to realize sustainable development have its own challenges for Indonesia.

"RI is an archipelagic country so potential investors must have the right system, especially in the field of transportation," he stressed.

Previously, Kadin Chairperson Arsjad Rasjid revealed that ASEAN has four program pillars, namely digital transformation, sustainable development, result resilient, and food security. It is through these four pillars that the Indonesian Kadin cooperation will be directed.

"It is hoped that the business collaboration between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Canada Business Council will be realized soon so that it can have a positive impact on development in the country," he said.

For information, the government and Kadin are currently continuing to encourage Canada's active role to immediately realize the construction of Green Airport in North Kalimantan (Kaltara) as an implementation of decarbonization. Apart from that, strategic efforts are also being made to boost local fisheries products.

Not only that, the private sector and entrepreneurs are also encouraged to invest by designing mutually beneficial agreement schemes.
