JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono said, five dams are considered vital in maintaining water security to encourage national food security.

The five dams include the Banyan Sila Dam in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the Rotiklot Dam in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and the Tapin Dam in South Kalimantan.

Then, the Paselloreng Dam in South Sulawesi, and the Gondang Dam in Central Java.

"The Banyan Sila Dam which was just inaugurated yesterday, if there are thousands of hectares underneath, I have also passed the rice fields and now with the existence of the Beringin Sila it has become water, they (the farmers) have planted twice", Basuki told reporters after the Kick-off.
