JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) has successfully completed the construction of the Tamblang Dam project located in Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. The dam construction project was inaugurated directly by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday 2 February which was symbolically marked by a procession of pressing the switch on button as a sign of opening the dam door and signing the inscription.

During the inauguration, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimoeljono, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Hadi Tjahjono, Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster, Regent of Buleleng Ketut Lihadnyana, President Director of PTPP Novel Arsyad, Director of Operations for Infrastructure Yul Ari Pramuraharjo, and other officials.

Tamblang Dam, which changed its name to Danu Kerti Buleleng Dam, is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) which has a total contract value of IDR 820 billion. The dam construction, which began at the end of 2018, was carried out by KSO PTPP Adijaya with an implementation period of 48 months or approximately four years.

Tamblang Dam has a storage capacity of 5.1 million cubic meters with an inundation area of 29.86 hectares. Tamblang Dam is the first dam in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, which in its construction uses asphalt core technology as a core or dam core where the dam construction often uses clay cores. The choice of asphalt cores aims to make this dam waterproof, earthquake resistant, and has relatively higher efficiency in the use of urugan materials.

The presence of the Tamblang Dam is expected to be able to reduce flooding with a discharge of 158.86 cubic meters per second so that the area downstream of the dam becomes safe against the threat of flooding. In addition, the presence of the dam can be used to irrigate rice fields and increase planting intensity in the Bungkulan irrigation area and the irrigation area of Bulian covering an area of 588 hectares and produce raw water of 510 liters per second.

Not only that, the Tamblang Dam also has the potential to be a hydro Micro Power Plant (PLTMH) of 0.54 Megawatts and as a new tourist attraction in the North Bali region.

PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad said the presence of the Tamblang Dam is expected to improve the economy of the surrounding community and have a positive impact on the people in Bali Province, especially those in Buleleng Regency. "The construction of the Tamblang Dam can also provide added value as a water tourism area that can be enjoyed by local tourists, especially people living around the dam," said Novel.

"PTPP is proud to be able to complete the construction of the dam project on time and provide the best quality and benefit the people of Indonesia," said Novel.
