Electrification Ratio Reaches 99.63 Percent, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Will Focus on Eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) reported that the Electrification Ratio in 2022 was 99.63 percent, an increase of 1.8 percent from 2021, which was 99.45 percent.

ESDM Minister Arifin Tasrif said the government continues to monitor the progress of achieving the electrification ratio in Indonesia.

This is because the electrification ratio concerns justice or equity in accessing electricity.

"The electrification ratio in 2022 will reach 99.63 percent, but we need to increase this electrification program so that all regions of Indonesia have access to electricity," Arifin said at a Press Conference on Performance Achievements for 2022 and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Work Program for 2023 quoted Tuesday, January 31 .

Arifin added, in 2023 the government will continue to try to increase the national electrification ratio, especially in eastern Indonesia, especially in remote areas.

Thus, it is hoped that all of Indonesia will be able to enjoy electricity 24 hours a day and of course be able to boost local regional economic growth.

"The eastern (Indonesian) region will be our focus going forward so that we can push electrical energy to the people of the eastern region, including the Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, even East Nusa Tenggara and other remote outer islands," explained Arifin.

Just so you know, throughout 2022 there will be several additional power generation capacities of 81.2 gigawatts (GW) with details of a Steam Power Plant of 42.1 GW.

Then, 21.6 GW of Gas / Steam / Gas Engine Power Plants (PLTG / GU / MG), 5 GW of Diesel Power Plants (PLTD) and 12.5 GW of EBT Power Plants. This figure is the prognosis until December 2022.
