JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has confirmed that it will replace the coal levy scheme from what the government has used so far.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said his party would also replace the scheme previously planned to resemble a public service agency (BLU).

"There must be another mechanism," he said when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources building, Friday, January 13.

Arifin added that the formation of another mekaism was a suggestion from coal-producing entrepreneurs to form other mechanisms that the government had used so far.

"So, because the mechanism that has been used for the government mechanism is not suitable, so we have to use other melanisms. That has been conveyed to entrepreneurs," continued Arifin.

Previously, Arifin also said that the formation of the BLU had not found a bright spot because it still found some obstacles in its formation.

"So it is true that the BLU that was proposed yesterday still has its signature," continued Arifin.

As Arifin knows, later the BLU levy and distribution mechanism will participate in the oil palm plantation fund management agency (BPDPKS).

The concept of collecting compensation funds raised by BLU is for all coal sold for both export and domestic with a collection mechanism in conjunction with royalties.

Meanwhile, for the distribution concept, continued Arifin, the coal supply will issue two invoices simultaneously to BLU and PLN for verification by the Director General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba) and PLN.
