JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has succeeded in uncovering the misuse of 1.4 million subsidized fuel oil (BBM) from all regions in Indonesia. This number will occur throughout 2022.

Head of BPH Migas, Erika Retnowati, said the cases of subsidized fuel abuse during 2022 which were successfully uncovered were a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between BPH Migas and the National Police.

"During 2022 we have managed to secure 1.4 million liters through a request for expert testimony by the BPH Migas Team", said Erika in a press conference at the BPH Migas Building, Tuesday 3 January.

This amount was largely dominated by subsidized diesel fuel with details of 1.02 million liters of subsidized diesel, 837 liters of premium, 14,855 liters of Pertalite, 1,000 liters of Pertamax, 233,403 liters of mixed fuel, 93,605 non-subsidized diesel, and 52,642 subsidized kerosene.

Erika continued, throughout 2022 BPH Migas and the National Police have taken legal action against the misuse of subsidized fuel, including in South Sumatra with evidence in the form of 114.8 tons of fuel, West Java 22 tons, Jambi 700 liters and Central Java 40 tons.

Erika asked the public to actively report a suspected abuse of subsidized fuel to BPH Migas and the police so that it can be handled immediately.

"We ask for the community's help by reporting allegations of fuel misuse, you can go through our helpdesk at 081230000136 for complaints and reporting", continued Erika.

Present on the same occasion, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police, Commissioner General Agus Andrianto emphasized that the role of the community is very important in providing information if there are irregularities in the misuse of the distribution of fuel oil (BBM).

“Right now nothing can be separated from the media. Social media is incredibly powerful. I think the power of the media is extraordinary. Therefore, we beg you, if there is something like that (BBM irregularities) in the media, just do it. We will definitely follow up", said Agus.
