Cargo Traffic At Angkasa Pura II Management Airport Increases By 10 Percent During Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - cargo traffic at 20 airport flights managed by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) during the Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 periods has increased by 10 percent.

"The number of cargoes in 2022 at 20 airports that we manage is 2,579,931 kilograms, or grew 10 percent compared to 2021," said PT Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhamad Awaluddin in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, January 3.

According to him, from the data at the 20 airports, the largest increase traffic occurred at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten with a total cargo of 1,839,080 during the 2022 period.

"So at Soekarno-Hatta Airport the number of cargoes in 2022 is 1,839,080, or there is an increase from the previous year," he said.

He said improvements in cargo traffic at several airports had been seen since 2021, which at that time the industry was recovering after the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also explained that in general the cargo was an order for companies and households.

"In 2021 there has been an increase when compared to the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Currently, cargo traffic in 2022 is growing, thanks to the full recovery from the government for each industry," he said.

Meanwhile, to anticipate the presence of cargo that could endanger air transportation or passenger, a tightening of inspections is carried out.

"This is done to anticipate things that are not desirable in the field, therefore we are working with the security forces and cargo managers," he said.
